Retirement on hold while I sort out my books and other events creep in under the radar.
Barn Dance Book – A new and revised version of the Quicksilver Barn Dance Book with the snappy title of Mike Ruff’s Quick and Simple Barn Dance Book will be available within days. Now in colour with some pictures and available in ebook and downloadable form as well as and old fashioned book and the same CD
History of Country Dancing – This is the big one – now getting closer to completion. Our projected launch date of July is now looking a bit optimistic but you will soon be able to reserve copies of the posh hardback limited edition or the standard paperback. There are launch events planned for July and September on the Events page and I am more than happy to add more with major discounts available. Watch this Space.
As well as the talks on Dancing the one on Songs and Stories from the Music Hall is proving popular and my most recent request for a large local U3A group has provided a reunion opportunity for Allcock and Brown – who expected that?
Quicksilver has had a slight resurgence with 5 bookings through the summer and autumn to add to my solo events and more that I turned down. I am also going back to Cecil Sharp House for a “one-off” Thursday class as cover.
I will be doing Maypole events at Friday Folk in St Albans on May 2nd and Rhuddlan Castle on May 5th while other members of the mAy team will be at Dulwich and Wandsworth Bridge Road on 10th and 11th. The following weekend sees something really unusual – I will not have a single Maypole in my garage as I have got rid of two and the other is being hired out! Meanwhile the enquiry to take a Maypole to Singapore for three days did not actually get beyond an initial request – that might have been a ribbon too far!
